Holly Phillips
ABOUT | Holly Hollingsworth Phillips is a residential interior designer and co-owner of The English Room.
This is my antique horn chair, which I purchased on a buying trip to Paris in the mid 1990’s when I was working at Travis and Company in charge of the antiques at ADAC. It was my first buying trip with the company. This chair was purchased after a long boozy lunch in the market. The owner of the set (yes it was part of a set...so wish we bought the loveseat too) said it came from a famous hair salon (Christophe...I think) in Paris that did Jackie O’s hair when she visited with Onassis. I was sold with the horn and leopard alone... then Jackie O thrown in. When it arrived to ADAC and we were unpacking I almost had a fistfight with another employee who also wanted it. I had dreamed of this baby ever since I saw it.
It makes me so happy and has traveled from house to house over the years. It now resides in my den.
I am an animal print fanatic. I know they can be misunderstood with so many bad examples but nothing can be more chic when done right.

Courtney Barnes
ABOUT | Courtney Barnes is the editor of Style Court, a blog dedicated to textiles, history, art, design, and a little mental traveling.... it's one of our few must-reads.
I love sleeping under these loose flowering branches. The fabric is John Robshaw's Pushpa linen in aqua and I got the idea for the laid-back, summery canopy from the Domino book (how to do an unstructured canopy).
My walls are a smudge-y aqua, too. It's a great color to live with, I think, because it works almost like a neutral. Right now I'm playing up the blue mood with one small shot of Peter Dunham's Kashmir Paisley in tea/peacock - a slouchy, inviting pillow - but I can easily change the look by substituting something in the violet family, or a crushed-berry-red, or a leafy-green, etc. - all colors seem to pair well with this aqua.
Other textiles in the room are: white on white seersucker curtains; a small Persian rug with a navy ground; and John Robshaw stitched shams and a coverlet.

Our Style Stories
We are seekers of good design - in any form and fashion. We're also big believers in openly sharing the brands, companies, products, blogs, and things we find in our scouting and scavenging so that others can come to love them too. We are quite literally an open book - hence our Little Black Book! One of our latest delights is Hilary Walker's new blog - Our Style Stories. Do you remember Hilary's awesome Show & Tell from a while back? Still adore that incredible vintage screen of hers. Sigh. Needless to say, we are mad about her style and so naturally we're all into the unique perspective that she'll be sharing on her new blog.
In her words… 'Inspired by the many unique ways in which other creatives adorn themselves and their homes, Our Style Stories first found form in a monthly series called “Style Story” on Hilary’s original blog, Hilary Inspired. After much soul-searching and blog regrouping, Hilary chose to retire Hilary Inspired in the Summer of 2013 and relaunch with a new vision and concept focused around the “Style Story” series.'
'A core concept of Our Style Stories is the idea that our personal style and specific backstory are mutually revealing. How we choose to dress, speak, decorate, live, and serve are all wrapped up in the context of our personal style. Some folks have an especially beautiful and interesting way of expressing their style and these are the subjects of Our Style Stories.'
'Beyond the attractive exterior, however, Hilary is very much interested in the inner matters that make creative and successful folks “tick”. What inspires them, challenges them, how have they found their success, and what motivates their art, craft, or calling?'
Please stop on by to take a peek and say hello to Hilary! You'll want to put your feet up and stay for a while because if you're like us, a look into the style of other creative minds is endlessly interesting and inspiring. Let us know whatcha think, why don't you?

Do you all remember the fabulous Tonal Knockouts post that Tami did on her blog a while back called Ode to Pink? I do... In fact, it was one of those posts that she did which drew me in, as so many of them did - that combo of her alluring writing paired with unique finds that I wasn't seeing elsewhere in the blogosphere - all left me wanting to know more about this talented designer. Fast forward to present and here I am, lucky enough to be partners in crime with this creative force of nature! I can't tell you all how fortunate I consider myself to be working with her on a daily basis - collaborating on everything from our client projects to our blog to our online atelier, which will be launching later this year. Good, good things are in the works, let me just tell you.
Tami's original post was inspired by someone she has long admired and now I do too - Jennifer Crenshaw, a textile artist who lives in Tami's hometown of Athens, GA - and in particular her board titled Favorite Things in Pink Minor. Trust us, you want to follow her for a glimpse of this colorful and artistic world through her visonary lens.
From time to time, we'll be resurrecting pieces from Tami's old blog here on CLOTH & KIND but in the meantime check it out here if you have an itch for more.
